Universal Audio has launched the new UAFX Control app, on both Android and iOS platforms, for its UAFX pedals. The app itself is free to download and adds bonus effects to the UAFX Pedal range. Though, on launch, it appears to have very limited control.
Universal Audio UAFX Control app
The new, free to download UAFX Control app for the UAFX Pedal range (you can read our review of the pedals here) has been launched today. It offers users some new bonus effects along with the ability to update the pedals’ firmware. Both of which are great things to have for sure, though currently, it doesn’t really offer much more than that.
You do get these nice added bonus effects though, which consist of the following: Golden Reverberator gets a Chamber & Plate effect, a vintage percussion/constant plates and acoustic chamber, the Starlight Echo station gets the Cooper Time Cube, and the Astra Modulation Machine gets the Dharma 61, which is billed as a “dynamically controllable harmonic tremolo” and the Phaser X90, a classic vintage phasing effect.
To get your free bonus effects, simply connect the pedal to your computer via a USB‑C cable and register it with Universal Audio. Then you can receive your free bonus effects and install any available firmware updates.
Tails and Footswitches
Apart from these free bonus effects, at the moment, actual control of your UAFX Pedals via the app is pretty limited. What you can control though is useful, and consists of being able to switch buffered/trails bypass options and customise the footswitch modes. I’m hoping we see more in the future, as the pedals themselves are very well thought out and have some great sounds. Check out Black Pumas performing live using the UAFX pedals in the video below.
