Developer Andreas Pohl has released AudioGridder, a macOS-only client-server system that lets you offload plugin processing to any other computers in your network. As you probably know, plugins and virtual instruments can be rather hungry for CPU resources. Even if you have a powerful computer, a single DAW session with multiple instances of virtual synthesizers, […]
Andreas T. Music has released Crystal Glass, a free melodic percussion sound library for Native Instruments Kontakt (also includes WAV samples). Sourc Sync has released Bedford Rascal, a free sample pack featuring the sounds of an old Bedford van. The sample pack contains a collection of percussive sounds, squeaky noises, and processed loops. Gibson has officially launched a brand new online Virtual Guitar Tech Service. This new string to its bow gives you the opportunity to get a free consultation from an official Gibson guitar tech, as well as advice and assistance on how to set up your favourite guitar.
Gibson Virtual Guitar Tech Service
With all this newfound time due to the coronavirus crisis, many people have been taking out their old forgotten guitars from under their beds or their attics. It’s more than likely that these instruments will require – if not a minor setup – a string change, at the very least. And for those who don’t know what they’re doing, this can look like a daunting task. Whether this sounds like you, or you simply want to tweak your instrument but your local guitar tech is unavailable, Gibson has the perfect solution for you. With the company’s new Virtual Guitar Tech Service, you can get step-by-step assistance from a guitar tech and have your guitar up and running in no time.
The link at the bottom of this article will take you to the new landing page for booking an online setup for your guitar. The service is free and offers some good basic guitar setup advice from a Gibson guitar tech. You can read the official blurb below to get the basics of what is on offer:
This free service matches players with Gibson’s team of professional techs in real-time to cover basic tune-ups for guitar, bass, electric and acoustic players in any genre or style.
FREE one-on-one consultations
Real-time and personalized assistance
Tune-up services for any skill level
Easy 2-Step scheduling process
The service will cover basic guitar setup enquiries, and the fact that it is free is great news! Especially for guitar players who do not feel confident messing with their favourite instrument. Although, I have to say that I believe all guitarists should be able to do a few basic setup jobs on their guitars. It just makes you feel more confident with your tools. Nothing worse than being at a gig and finding out your guitar has an issue that you cannot fix!
Two Part Fix
The process is in two parts. The first part is a 30 minute 1-2-1 consultation in real time, after which there is a 60 minute long ‘follow up’, that Gibson calls the ‘Basic Guitar Tune Up Service.’ The service covers Gibson, Epiphone, Kramer, and Steinberger electric and acoustic guitars, banjos, mandolins, and electric basses.
You can also check out some of my Top Tips articles, where I cover basic guitar setup tips and tricks.
The Gibson Virtual Guitar Tech Service sounds really promising. If any of our readers try it out, do let us know how you got on in the comments section below.

Borth Audio has released Typewriter, a free sound library add-on for the Native Instruments Kontakt sampler. As the name suggests, Typewriter features a set of audio samples of an actual typewriter. Ben Vesco Line 6 Editor with updated real names
Update your names
For obvious reasons, Line 6 cannot use these names legally, as they belong to other companies. We all know who and what they really are, but sometimes it can get rather frustrating trying to remember which one is which. Thankfully, Ben Vesco has done all of the hard work, allowing the rest of us to see the real names for all the virtual pedals and amps in Line 6’s systems.
The updates are for the following systems
POD Go Edit
Check out the video below for the full instructions on how to install these updated files and follow the link below to grab your free copy of them. They will work on both Mac and PC systems. Do remember, however, that you are doing this of your own accord and that Ben cannot be held responsible if you mess it up, so watch those instructions carefully!
