Elektron Digitakt OS 1.30 Update: Filters, 2nd LFO and more

Digitakt owners rejoice! Elektron has a bunch of goodies for your sampling drum machine including another LFO, external signal mixing and new filters. Digitakt OS 1.30 It’s always great to see new features added to hardware products and Elektron always seem to bring a lot to the table with every update. LFO First up is the second LFO which seems the same as the original but of course, doubles your modulation possibilities. It can also modulate the first LFO which could get interesting. The update extends to the display with LFO waveshape and phase now represented in the window. Filters The multimode filter has been expanded to include an EQ mode and a new envelope delay which is ideal for processing transients. Elektron has introduced the bass-width filter from the Digitone that allows you to process bass sounds with high low and bandpass filtering independently from the main filter. Elektron Digitakt Mixing The sampling inputs can now be used for mixing external signals. You can use it as a stereo source or split it into two mono signals which is perfect for running in a couple of synths. You can then process them through the reverb, delay effects and master compressor. Other bits The pitch range has been increased to a whole 3 octaves down. They’ve introduced multitrack step recording and resampling of individual tracks. In order to use the Elektron Digitakt OS 1.30 with Overbridge, Overbridge must be updated to version 2.0.58, which has also just been released. Download The Elektron Digitakt OS 1.30 update can be downloaded free of charge from the Elektron website for all Digitakt owners. Full details of the update can be found here. UAD Software 9.13 and Luna 1.1.1 updates bring Neve and API emulations

Universal Audio dropped a double-whammy today with updates to its vast plug-in collection and Luna, the integrated recording system. New Neve and API emulations are in-bound, as well as feature updates and other good stuff for owners of Apollo interfaces. Let’s check ’em out. Neve Dynamics Collection The Neve 2254/E compressor and limiter With version 9.13, UAD bundled an updated Neve 33609/C mix bus compressor with an all-new emulation of the Neve 2254/E compressor and limiter into the Neve Dynamics Collection. The updated 33609 compressor gets a new Sidechain Filter, a Dry/Wet Mix control, and Fast/Slow Attack settings. Meanwhile, the Neve 2254/E plug-in recreates the compressor and limiter module from the manufacturer’s 80-series analog boards. UA talks up a faithful emulation of Rupert Neve’s famed diode-bridge circuit topology, complete with the custom amplifiers and transformers. The plug-in operates in mono and stereo. It looks very authentic with those circular level meters and submarine-like control panel. Price: USD 299 (USD 149 for current UAD Neve 33609 Compressor owners) API Summing Luna Extension API Summing for Luna UA partnered with API to inject some big, bold American color into Luna’s summing facilities. The emulation recreates the 2520 op-amps and custom output transformers from five decades’ worth of API consoles. It is built right into the Luna mixer for a streamlined, single-screen workflow. Price: USD 299 Misc updates New additions aside, UAD took the time to overhaul its 1176 Classic Limiter Collection with graphics and feature enhancements. The Sphere mic modeling suite also gets four new mic models courtesy of Townsend Labs. UAD Apollo X-series end-of-year sale Don’t forget – until December 31, you can purchase and register a UA Apollo X or…

Universal Audio Luna 1.1: DAW update with interesting new features

Universal Audio has just released its first major update to its analog-inspired DAW – Luna. Version 1.1 is UA’s response to a number of user inquiries, with lots of new and interesting features. Looks like Luna is finally catching up with competing products and is on the right track to carving a niche for itself. Universal Audio Luna Update Version 1.1 We rarely write about updates like these. However, the Universal Audio Luna version 1.1 includes enough new functions and bug-fixes to justify the attention. For example, there are important new functions like track grouping and the ability to edit various parameters of several tracks at the same time. On the more interesting side, “Session Versions” lets you save different versions of your song in separate “versions”. This way, you can do quick A/B comparisons or return to previous versions. There’s also the new bookmarks function that lets you set permanent markers for any important changes you’ve made to the session. The new version now has comprehensive MIDI clock output, too. Latencies can be adjusted separately for each MIDI track. Stability and performance have also been improved with the addition of bug-fixes and clean-up of errors. You can learn more about the changes in the videos below. Of course, this won’t be the last significant update to this relatively new DAW. There’s still room for improvement. But the combination of Luna, coupled with UA’s esteemed range of audio interfaces, and its collection of DSP-driven plug-ins already makes for a powerful recording and production setup. Prices and dates Luna is free for all owners of UA’s Thunderbolt audio interfaces, such as Apollo x16, x8p, x8, x6, x4, Twin MkII, Twin X, and Solo.…

Allen & Heath SQ V1.5 Firmware Update with new features and plug-ins

Allen & Heath has drops a V1.5 firmware update for its successful range of SQ series mixing desks. The new firmware brings RTA functionality along with more recording channels, and additional features. You’ll have to cough up some hard cash if you want the tasty new FX units though… New RTA on all SQ Series Channels V1.5 Firmware Update Allen & Heath launched its successful SQ series digital mixing desks at the tail end of 2017, rounding out the range with the flagship SQ7 just a few months later. Now, Allen & Heath drops a big SQ firmware update to V1.5 firmware update. So what’s new? Is this a must-have firmware update or is it all a bit meh? Taking a read through Allen & Heath’s release notes, we can’t help but feel slightly underwhelmed. But there are a few items that are noteworthy, valuable upgrades: RTA function updated to permit channel based analysis with new display functionality 32 channel record/playback from SQ Drive now permitted HPF and LPF filter now available on all processing channels Availability of new FX Processing add-ons New Free Stuff! What’s the Problem? We’re left feeling underwhelmed and moreover a little disappointed by the V1.5 firmware update, for a few reasons. First and foremost, a lot of this functionality should have been available from day one. Isn’t RTA analysis on a channel by channel basis a given on any digital desk nowadays? That we’ve had to wait for HPF and LPF functions on all channels seems a bit of a stretch. Desks of this type are often employed to do double duty as FOH and monitor mixer, where a HPF is a bare minimum requirement…
