United Plugins Electrum: Grab a guitar plug-in suite for a great introductory price!

United Plugins ElectrumElectrum packs in virtual amps and pedals on only one screen, and its developer United Plugins is offering an incredible introductory price at just 15 euros! Could this be a great time to get an all-inclusive virtual guitar rig?

For this new Electrum plug-in, United Plugins teamed up with the developer Muramasa Audio. According to United, you get nothing less here than an all-in-one guitar solution on just one screen. So you will find everything you need for a wide variety of music styles on a clear interface. Electrum wants to avoid you getting mired down in sub-menus, leading to quick results. The recent QuickBass also has a front end that’s easy to navigate. I found that super handy to have around in my DAW, so I’m expecting similar results here, just for guitar.

What’s in the plug-in?

Actually, quite a lot. You have access to 16 cab simulations with 21 variations for over 300 models to play with, according to United Plugins. These are not based on impulse responses, so they may be unique to this software plug-in. You can adjust Resonance and ambience for each selection for more character, letting you tailor your sound as you go along. You can also choose from five amp simulations denoted by colour: Blue, Yellow Orange, Red and Black. Each has its own tone to explore.

Included Effects

Three types of distortion are on offer, along with an onboard reverb with 18 different algorithms to play with, a poly tuner working with spectral analysis, a double-tap delay and the Magic EQ equipped with seven bands and high/low pass filters. This also supports an EQ matching function. But that’s not all! Modulation effects such as chorus, flanger, phaser, tremolo or sweeper combine in form of a multi-modulation pedal.

On top of that, you get the standard bread-and-butter effects such as gate, doubler, compressor and an auto-wah. You can assemble all “modules” in any order. There are stacks of presets to try out, too, and the A/B function allows you to quickly compare settings. Another fine extra is hidden behind the analysis input level button, which sets an optimal input level after the guitar strings have been hit.

You can switch the one-screen interface between a 3D view and a rather reduced 2D view if you prefer a cleaner, less cluttered look.
