This week’s collection of the best free plug-ins brings you three very useful effects. We’ve got a straightforward compressor, a filtered delay and a major update for one of the most popular free filter plug-ins. Here’s Stupid Compressor, SweepDelay and TAL-Filter-2 3.0.
You can discover many more free plug-ins in our archives!
SNFK Music Stupid Compressor
Despite the name, there’s nothing stupid about this free compressor plug-in. Stupid Compressor by SNFK Music features a very clean user interface that gives you access to all main parameters and even sports a compression graph and a realtime visualizer. Open up the Advanced View and you’ll find additional options such as high pass and low pass filters for band pass compression, a transient shaper and a clipping distortion module with two modes of operation. Very nice!
Stupid Compressor is currently only available as a VST3 plug-in for Windows. A Mac version is coming soon, the developer says.
After ReverseDelay, here’s another unique free delay plug-in by SaschArt. SweepDelay offers separate resonant filters for the left and right channels, both of which can be modulated by LFOs. The pan width, feedback and dry/wet mix of each channel can also be controlled using the LFOs. As the delay time and the modulation LFOs sync to the host tempo, SweepDelay lets you add motion to your tracks with filtered, modulated stereo ping pong delays in a snap.
SweepDelay is available for Windows and macOS in VST and AU formats.
TAL Software TAL-Filter-2 3.0
TAL Software from Switzerland has been around since the early days of audio plug-ins, and they deserve much respect for keeping even their free plug-ins up to date. TAL-Filter-2 3.0 is a major update for one of the most popular free filter plug-ins. It sports a redesigned GUI, several modulatable filter types, host sync with different sync options and a new stereo offset option for the modulation. There’s also an automatable trigger button that resets the modulation to the start. Great stuff!
TAL-Filter-2 3.0 is available for Windows, macOS and Linux in VST, VST3, AU and AAX formats.
